ワンオペで大変だろうな（その友達のお母さんも昔からワンオペだったな。）、サラリーマンの出世のための通過儀礼としての夜勤や転勤、それによって変化せざるおえない家族の生活、などについて考えていました。

A friend’s husband, who has small children, was assigned to night shifts for a year. I thought about how hard it must be for her to manage everything on her own, and how her mother had always done the same.
I was thinking about night shifts and transfers as rites of passage for salaried workers trying to advance in a company, and about the ways families are forced to change because of them.
